Meet the members of Cornhill Community Association

Cornhill Community Association is a non-profit organisation developing new and innovative approaches to community development.

Our activities are designed to respond to the needs of Cornhill residents and, as such, we organise many groups, classes and activities for people in our local area.

We meet once a month to share ideas and give updates on various projects.

  • Ian Aitken (Chairperson)

Ian has been Chairperson of the Management Committee for 3 years. He has lived in the area since 1999, is the local Church of Scotland minister and has been involved in many different community groups and activities over the years.

He is passionate about our area being a place where people can flourish. He also loves being part of the Association’s trans-Atlantic poetry group.

  • Hayley Wood (Community Development and Engagement Officer)

Hayley is responsible for the day-to-day running of Cornhill Community Centre and joined Cornhill Community Association as the Community Development Officer in May 2021 after graduating with her MSc in Public Health and Health Promotion. Since then, she has developed our new programme and is always thinking of new ideas to to increase community engagement.

  • Amanda Stephen (Committee Member)

Amanda has been a local resident for 40 years. She joined the association a couple of years ago to feel more part of the community, foster community spirit and help promote resilience by developing local activities.

Amanda is an admin and works in an outreach service for young people. In her free time she likes to grow fruit, live an environmentally friendly life and keep up with the latest technology.
